Hiking Solo As A Woman
The Balance.
Hiking can be peaceful - a time for self-reflection and connection with nature. But it can also feel vulnerable at times. Solo hiking is about balancing that sense of freedom with awareness and confidence in yourself and your surroundings.
Feeling Empowered.
Here’s how I approach solo hikes - with preparation, awareness, and a lot of trust in my gut.
Plan Ahead: Know the trail, check the weather, and tell someone where you’ll be.
Stick to Daylight: Morning starts mean bright light, calm air, and a peaceful return.
Trust Your Instincts: If something feels off, it probably is. Turn around - no shame in it.
Pack Smart: Water, snacks, a map, a charged phone, and layers. Always layers.
Know Your Basics: Trail markers, directions, and a mental map make a big difference.
Leave No Trace: I take what I come with and leave what belongs :).
There’s something powerful about moving through nature on your own - relying on your instincts, your pace, your breath. It’s not about being fearless; it’s about being prepared and trusting yourself.
My Solo Safety Mindset.
A Gentle Reminder.
Solo hiking isn’t about proving anything - it’s about moving through the world at you own rhythm. Nature doesn’t rush you; neither should you.
